1. Why shoud I choose your company?

There are now a few different companies providing the same services what we do that we started in 2009.   We were the first company in the nation specialized only in Hybrid vehicle battery rebuild services.   We serviced over 4,000 vehicles so far and we are getting busier.

We have seen so many companies come and go during past 9 years.   We are providing our services only in the areas that we can manage ourselves, because we understand that we are dealing with over 10 years old or vehicles with over 150k mile so the customer services are the most important factor in this business.   At the same time we are providing the lowest price and the best warranty by efficient operations & simple hassle free package deals.   We don't charge separate installation charges since we are taking care all the installations and services by our own in-house technicians.

All the other companies are advertising higher prices than us and trying to match to our prices over the phone, only if when you bring up our prices.   That is a bad business practice from the customer's point of view.   Why do you have to ask them a favor to match the prices since we are already advertising lower price with better service & warranty?   We understand they are just trying very hard to earn the businesses.   Remember, you need to choose the company that will last longer than your car's life time at least.   Unfortunately, records showed that that was not what has happened in this business.   Lastly, we don't ask our customers for good reviews or manage fake reviews.

We understand the competition is great thing & healthy for the industry and absolutely important for the customers.   Here are the business start dates of current hybrid battery service companies that you can find from google as of 2018.   All this information is publically available online so you can confirm from any internet domain whois services, such as www.whois.net

2. Are we new in the business?

This is our beautiful facility
in Ontario, Southern California.
No, BATTERY4HYBRID has been an innovator in providing our professional battery repair/refurbish service worldwide for over 15 years and have performed over 70,000 orders with over 98.5% success rate.

We brought state of the art technology into our unique rechargeable battery pack refill/refurbish/rebuild service. For example, we use a surgical grade real-time X-ray machine, exclusively designed & developed just for us. It can penetrate and magnify up to 1600 times of its original size, ensuring exactly how & where the circuits and other major components are located without even opening the battery case.

Most importantly, we have a team of engineers who specialize in updating our own program called Doctor Battery. We use this program to run diagnostics and to perform the resetting of the variety of control circuits inside of the battery packs. Most people think that just replacing the old cells will make the battery pack run like a brand new again. Truth is that it is not that simple.

(Please be careful to the do-your-selfers out there. Even replacing the old cells alone can be VERY VERY DANGEROUS if you don't know what you are doing. Li-Ion cells have an extremely high energy density, please do not try to solder directly on the cells. This requires special welding machines.)

We offer battery repair service on Hybrid Car, laptop, broadcast camcorder, power tool, Segway, Ebike, etc.

We gain exposure by advertising through Google and Microsoft and that kept us busy.

3. How does the warranty work?
We provide 12 month 20,000 mile warranty and 24 month 40,000mile warranty for Gen2 & Gen3 Priuses. The warranty expires whenever either occors first. 24 month limited warranty requires free yearly checkup at our location. The first free checkup is due after 10 months and before the 14th month. We will remind you after 10 months after the service. If a customer fails to visit to run the free diagnoses, the warranty will automatically expire. For example, if a customer finished the service in January, then the free check up is due from October to before the end of next Feburary. So, if this customer fails to visit by the end of 14th month, the warranty automatically expires on the last day of the 14th month.

4. Do you check credit for in-house financing?
No. However, you have to have lien free car title and we will have our company name on your title (pink slip) as lien holder until the payment is paid in full. If your default on your payment, there is a high possibility that your car will be taken to us by a licensed repossession company. If the car is repossessed, you will have 30 days to claim your car. You will be responsible for the cost of vehicle repossession, storage, and any financing or late fees associated with your contract.

5. Who pays for the towing if the car stops running after the repair?
We are trying our best to prevent un-expected failures, so we are providing a free yearly check-up on your vehicle. However, any car can fail from many possible causes. We do not pay for the towing cost under the warranty. Your best option will be contacting your auto insurance company. They usually provide a free towing service for up to a certain amount of miles or cost. We will have your car at our service facility to have warranty services.

6. I live far away from Southern California. Can you help? Can I replace the battery by myself?
We don't ship the batteries alone. The Hybrid battery has a very high voltage and current, which is very dangerous. So, we don't sell the batteries alone unless customer owns auto repair shop and carry their own liability insurance.

We have an On-Site Remote Service team travels to every state for the Prius battery services. The cost for our On-Site Remote Service to your location is only between $45 to $299, which is cheaper than the cost of local towing in most areas. However, we cannot schedule road side services to a single individual's location only. We always wait to schedule multiple service stops until there is a sufficient amount of customers along the way. Thus, there will usually be a wait time until we schedule the service to your location.

7. Do you use brand new battery packs?
We only use genuine Toyota Prius battery packs to replace all of your old battery packs. They are from low mileage Priuses that total damaged & sold at insurance auctions nationwide. Don't be fooled by "brand new battery cells" from other service companies. There are no brand new battery cells/packs, other than from Toyota dealer or Panasonic (Masushita) OEM battery supplier as of today. There are still International Patents pending so noone can produce same battery cells/packs.

8. How long does it take to repair the battery?
Replacing the Hybrid Battery or the Hybrid Inverter should take anywhere between 3 to 4 hours. We recommend that you come with someone to drop off your vehicle. Though we do provide a waiting area with a television and reading material, we are conveniently located only 10 minutes away from Ontario Mills and Montclair Plaza, and we encourage that you take advantage of what they have to offer. There are fast-food and dine-in restaurants within walking distance as well.

9. What is a Transaxle?
A Transaxle is a major component in a Hybrid vehicle that essentially combines the transmission, electric motor, and generator into one single integrated assembly. It is located where the regular gasoline-powered vehicle's transmission would normally be and looks almost the same.

The Hybrid Transaxle contains:
  • Motor Generator 1 (MG1) - This generates electrical power. MG1 recharges the EV Battery and also supplies electrical power to drive MG2. It serves as he engine starter, and by being able to regulate the amount of electrical power generated, which in turn would vary the internal resistance and rpm, it controls the transaxle's Continuously Variable Transmission, or CVT.
  • Motor Generator 2 (MG2) - This is responsible for driving the vehicle. It works together with the engine to drive the wheels. It has a characteristically strong torque, aiding in a smooth start-off and acceleration. This is also responsible for the regenerative braking on Hybrid Vehicles, by converting kinetic energy into electrical energy, which is stored in the EV Battery.
  • Planetary Gear Unit- This provides continuously variable gear ratios and serves as a power splitting device. It adjusts and blends the amount of torque from the engine and motor.

    10. What is an Inverter?
The Hybrid inverter is located in the engine compartment and it is not found in regular gasoline powered vehicles. It is one of the major components of any Hybrid vehicles. If this part malfunctions, the main traction battery won't charge, and the vehicle's electric motor will not work. It converts generated AC power from the transaxle to the main traction battery's DC power source and the traction battery's DC power to the transaxle's AC to drive the electric motor.
